Background

Christian men and women experience many hurts from childhood to their present day: abuses (emotional, verbal, sexual), neglect, control, unhealthy upbringings, generational sin, fear, addictions (sexual, drugs, alcohol), obsessions, rejection, performance orientation, anger, abortions, marital issues, infidelities, anxiety, etc. The body of Christ is wounded as a result of sin, and corporate America makes it hard for men and women to achieve the freedom and abundant life Jesus has for them. Men and women exit their homes early in the morning and return spent to their families, leaving no time to work on their inner person. TRUTH of LIFE Ministries is following Jesus’ call to partner with Christian companies for the healing of men and women, and ultimately the healing of the body of Christ.

TRUTH of LIFE Ministries and business owners (stewards) understand the principle of being good and faithful stewards of what God has placed in our hands.

The main purpose is to bring healing, freedom, and cleansing to the body of Christ, but other natural benefits will be experienced:
better husbands/wives and fathers/mothers at home
healthy leaders at church and in the Christian world
authentic men and women who are role models and represent Christ properly
restored creativity, increased productivity, and better personal relationships at the office
God’s blessings as a result of seeking first his kingdom and his righteousness

TRUTH of LIFE Ministries works under the direction of the Holy Spirit, using the Bible as the manual to achieve freedom for men and women.

TRUTH of LIFE Ministries encourages business owners (stewards) to develop a set of key performance indicators to measure the increase in productivity, creativity, and growth experienced as a result of this partnership in being good and faithful stewards of the men and women whom God entrusted to the company.

No obstante, al volver a recorrer sus páginas con la guía de Omar y el acompañamiento de otros hombres, el valor recibido fue exponencialmente aún más enriquecedor. • I read “The True Measure of a Man” for the first time after attending a Toolbox breakfast in Guadalajara, where they gave out the book to attendees. My first reading was a great blessing, so I started buying it and giving it to friends. Nevertheless, when I read it again as part of the study with Omar and other men, it was exponentially more enriching. God allowed me to experience His peace and rest in my stressed heart as I got deep into the material, recognizing the biases and wrong ideas of my heart, and humbly sharing those realizations, being vulnerable with other men in a safe space. Moreover, in hearing other men share what God showed them, my heart burned with love, faith, and hope. I am certain that God removed from my heart both conscious and unconscious wrong ideas that caused me to value the approval of others too much. I thank God for His good will in giving me the time to attend these meetings so I could learn my true value to Him and the importance of His plan for my life, in my role as a man according to His measure and His plan of love. • This book proved to be the most profound book outside of the Bible on what it means to be a man. I came into the study with such a backward perspective on what it means to be a man of God and have struggled significantly over the years as a result of having a non-biblical worldview. • Through my experiences in this course I learned to deal with my weaknesses (for example: depression, anxiety, loneliness), and also lessen my fear and uncertainty as the course showed me that the things that happen to me are experienced by others as well. • It is my second time going through “The True Measure of a Man” with Omar. It has been a great blessing, even though I was unsure how much benefit I could gain from going through the book again. • For me, attending the Journey of Generosity was an event that I anxiously awaited since the moment we received the invitation.  From the beginning, I was impacted by seeing in the other attendees the deep peace that only God can give.  I was also confronted with the many ways I justify not giving or being generous, observing in others (according to my human thinking) the ways in which they do not deserve my generosity.  In doing so, I haven’t remembered how much Jesus loves me and that He considers me a treasure, no matter how many times I act contrary to this love that He has for me and that led Him to give everything for me, even His own life on the cross.  I praise God for the life of the people who facilitated each step of this learning process and thank everyone for being generous with your time and efforts. For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw; each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work burns up, he will suffer loss, though he will be saved, rescued from the fire.

• Definitivamente creo que es un libro con mucha enseñanza y para quien lo medita, es de mucha transformación para su vida. • I definitely think the book “The True Measure of a Man” has a lot of teachings and for those who meditate on it, it is very transformative for their life. The first time I read it, it didn't resonate almost at all in my life, but the second time I read it it was something incredible, it gave some parts of my life a 180 degree turn and a tremendous impact. It provided me with answers to many of the inner questions I asked myself. It exhorts me to live my life in truth and to put aside deception, to live within the word of God, which is a manual of life and instruction for my daily life, so that I may become complete and whole. Something that I really liked learning and that continues to motivate me is that you can have a direct relationship, friendship or intimacy with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Before knowing the Lord, I did not know that you could have a relationship with Him, I thought that everything revolved around me and that it was through my own means that I was going to be able to do something, now I understand that this is not the case, that everything I do and everything I have is because of Him. I learned that the first and most important thing is God and seeking to comply with His laws and decrees, to be like the Lord Jesus Christ and not to look for my tastes and comforts in order to live life. life of abundance that God has prepared for me, because He does not want evil for me. • I was so encouraged to have the opportunity to go through the book study of The True Measure of a Man with Omar. I had read the book previously and have been friends with Omar for a number of years, but had not had the opportunity to go through the book with Omar. Since it was the first remote study I have done, I was skeptical at first as to how it would go, but it ended up being an incredible experience. I took part with several other members of my company in our conference room, and other companies and individuals called in. The book itself has very relevant content that is challenging and applicable to life as a man. Omar brought so much more to the study through bringing in scripture and analogies to help us connect with the material. He told us from the beginning that he did not want the study to be just another Bible study where we gained knowledge, but instead a transformational study where we met Christ in the material. I can say that I have so many takeaways that I can apply to my life as a leader in the office, at home as a husband and father, and as a man of God. One stand-out section was on being a man of courage. Omar talked about how Satan wants to steal our power, self-control, and love for others. It really spoke to me when Omar said that "fear is never a good motivator". I realized how often in my life I allow fear to motivate my actions rather than trust in the power of God. Week in and week out the study was a blessing and our group grew closer together. It was a great experience, and I am excited to continue encouraging others to be a part of it. • What a blessing you have been to me, Omar! I thank God that he led me to your ministry through the True Measure of a Man study my neighbor invited me to join a few years ago. In that study, you helped me better understand how to have a true relationship with the Lord and what it means to be a man in God’s eyes. Thank you for responding to God’s calling on your life to minister to others. Your teachings are so impactful that I decided to pursue the Listening Prayer study as well. Being relatively new in my walk with Jesus (baptized just 3 years ago), the Listening Prayer study helped advance my ability to pray according to the scriptures and God’s will so that I can hear God speaking into my life. Before that study, I believed prayer was a one-way conversation, but it is great to know how much God has to say to us if we are willing to ask him and then listen! Recently you invited me to one-on-one prayer sessions. I’m also in the first year of the Master's Program and have already learned so many valuable lessons about time management and how to better balance my life in a way that aligns with God’s plan. • It is a great pleasure for me to write this testimony about my experience studying the book The True Measure of a Man, by Richard E. Simmons III. The first thing I want to say is that I was pleasantly surprised to notice that the book is aimed at men. I felt identified as a man in terms of the concepts of success and others that are expressed in the book and that I have seen that I am not the only one. Another aspect that I liked was that, when expressing our point of view during the study session, we did so in the first person. I believe that forcing the mind to change the way of speaking using “I” provoked personal reflection in me and I observed the same in the other participants. Regarding the content of the book, I concluded that the author's intention is to lead me to have a personal relationship with God, taking Jesus Christ as a model. By knowing myself better as an individual, as a human being, and as a man, I can discover that, while there are many positive things about me, there are also many negative things. I have strengths and I have weaknesses. And God is counting on that. He knows that I am an imperfect being and that I need Him to achieve the objective for which I was created and placed in this world, in this time, in these circumstances, etc. Reading and studying The True Measure of a Man confirms for me the correct path to reach plenitude, contentment and overcome the obstacles that life continually presents me. I am filled with confidence because I know that He does not fail and always keeps His promises. I have experienced it in my own flesh. All that remains for me is to thank you for this invitation and the opportunity to have participated in this study group to delve deeper into all these teachings that will be of no use to me if I do not put them into practice and incorporate them into my life. • In this process I have found wonderful things, unique experiences and exceptional friends. I (a lifelong Catholic in Catholic families) mistakenly believed that complying with the rules of religion made me a good Catholic, but today I realize that this didn’t make me closer to Jesus. This wonderful study about The True Measure of a Man has placed me on another level of understanding and in depth knowing my inner being and not worrying about comparing myself to others. • Before meeting Omar Calderon, I tried to juggle the roles of husband, father, and first-time entrepreneur without fully realizing the transformative power of prayer. I prayed but lacked the experiential understanding and expectation that God could reveal to me areas in my life that needed change and guide me through the transformation. • Taking this course was a relationship steroid with the Lord, driving me to more dependency and listening in a way that brought peace and love to my life. A few other things to note: 1) Omar is a man who loves Jesus, is marked by humility, and has a love for God’s Word but also living a life of prayer and relationship with God. 2) There aren’t many pastors who understand the corporate world and can therefore speak with authority on how to bring Listening Prayer and application into the workplace. • God put very important people in my path who have been giving me direction towards Him, and at a very difficult time for me still. I received this little book, The True Measure of a Man, as a gift and received the invitation to study it in a group. • God led me to share a table and conversation with you Omar, in a children's party for our 4th grade children. Without delving into the details, this led me to attend the May Toolbox, which my brother and brother-in-law also attended (neither of them has yet accepted the Lord, but I trust in God that the seed sown will bear fruit). Gilberto Olvera's talk in said Toolbox was extremely inspiring, one of the best I have honestly heard. My brother-in-law even attended the July Toolbox again, with a guest, which confirms that he did like the event. My participation in the study group for the book “The True Measure of a Man” derives from that Toolbox. Theexperience was very enriching. The material in the book is excellent, and the interaction with other men explaining how what I read applies or moves the threads of my life is invaluable, since it made me share and see other points that went unnoticed by me. • I thank God for the wonderful gift of the LISTENING PRAYER study that I received from Him through Omar. I remember the month of May 2023, one night before the 5th Tool Box Guadalajara breakfast when Omar told me about how God brought them to Mexico, my heart was definitely beating and my curiosity increased to know in more detail the way God had spoken to them and given them such direction, I remember asking him: “How did God speak to you?” and that's when he told me that through prayer. Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw; each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. • I want to tell you that I am very grateful to God for bringing you into my life (because I often prayed asking God to surround me with the people He wants). I am very happy to participate in three events to which I have been invited by you: 1) Listening to God in Prayer, 2) Reading and learning from the book The True Measure of a Man and 3) the meetings of the Toolbox. I want to share about The True Measure of a Man. In these sessions I have learned things that no human can take away from me and that are uplifting and applicable to my life.   I waited for the start with some intrigue and uncertainty as the group of men began turning on their cameras as they entered. The first thing that caught my attention was the effort to make the message of the book personal. Having to speak in “first person” forced me to be more personal and not speak in generalities and transformed the time from a common spiritual study to a personal encounter with other men. • This time studying with Omar and Joanna was a blessing to our lives because of the radical change that was made in the way we pray. Our prayers used to be a monologue where everything revolved around us. • En este estudio aprendimos a interactuar con la santísima trinidad, y aun siendo cristianos, no sabíamos cómo comunicarnos con cada uno de ellos. • In this study we learned about interacting with the Holy Trinity. Even though we are Christians, we didn’t know how to interact with each Person of the Trinity. We learned that The Father does it all and that it is by Him that we have the mind of Christ, who gave his life for us so we can have eternal life. And when Christ went to heaven, he told us that the Holy Spirit is going to stay with us forever so we can always talk to Him. • This year I received a gift from God, starting the Master’s Plan and the class on Listening Prayer with Omar and Joanna, which became fresh water in my desert. I have been a Christian for more than 40 years and praying has always been part of my daily life and my routine, but the teachings received in these 13 weeks came to break paradigms in my life. • Doy gracias a Dios por este estudio que nos permitió concluir y tomar juntamente como grupo de trabajo en Realterra. Debido a que mi trabajo es vía online, Dios usó este estudio aún para conocer a aquellas personas con las cuales trabajo y poder aprender juntamente con ellas. Puedo decir que al comenzar el estudio me parecía raro poder escuchar a Dios en oración y hasta con algo de miedo e incredulidad accedí tomarlo (orando a Dios que lo que viniera de él pudiera tomarlo y lo que no, me diera sabiduría para discernir). Considero que ese temor fue porque la enseñanza fuerte que suele estar constante en las iglesias es que Dios solo te puede hablar a través de Su Palabra y que todo lo demás es de dudar, es verdad que la Palabra de Dios es usada para hablarnos y es una guía que nos ayuda a discernir, pero limitamos el obrar de Dios. Al avanzar con los estudios pude ver cómo Dios me mostró dos cosas claramente: una que Él obra en muchas maneras y formas, y que tenía que aprender a confiar en que escucharlo en oración era una de ellas, aun me cuesta, pero estoy aprendiendo a confiar en Dios en esta forma de Su obrar en mi vida. La segunda cosa que este curso me confirmó es la importancia de ir a Él en oración para los planes. El hecho de poder preguntarle antes que hacer, y aprender a escucharlo en medio de estas peticiones. • I thank God for this study that He allowed us to conclude and take together as a working group in Realterra. Since my job is online, God used this study even to meet those people with whom I work and to be able to learn together with them. I can say that at the beginning of the study it seemed strange to me to be able to listen to God in prayer, and even with some fear and disbelief I agreed to participate (praying to God that He would give me discernment to hold onto the good). I consider that this fear was because of the strong teaching we receive in churches that God can only speak through His Word and that everything else is to be doubted. It is true that the Word of God speaks, and it is a guide that helps us to discern, but we limit the work of God. As I progressed with the studies, I could see how God clearly showed me two things. One is that He works in many ways and forms, and that I had to learn to trust that listening to Him in prayer was one of them. It is still difficult for me, but I am learning to trust in God in this form of His work in my life. The second thing that this course confirmed for me is the importance of going to Him in prayer with our plans, the fact of being able to ask Him before everything we do and learning to listen to Him in the midst of these requests. Thanks to Omar for taking the time to scrutinize the scriptures and lead us to meditate on concepts that sometimes we do not get to deepen. Something that impacted me because I had not meditated on it before is that we have the mind of Christ, and that for the same reason, He makes his plans known to us. Sometimes I used to think that God's guidance was a little difficult to define but knowing this truth has brought me peace and rest in walking in what God shows me. • This Bible study has been a great blessing for me. I thank God for you, for your time and teaching, for praying as a couple, for teaching me to see my relationship with God in a different way, and most importantly; teaching me that God is interested in me, in talking to me if I am willing to listen to the Holy Spirit, to take some time in silence trying to listen to him. This study also taught me to search the Bible for verses, to pay attention to what they tell me. God does everything for me. 2021 Testimonials from men who participated in TRUTH of LIFE

• I have had the honor of knowing Omar Calderon for over a year. Omar lives biblically and teaches the Word and offers life lessons that are biblically sound. For example, he listens to what is going on in your life or a particular struggle you are having and addresses it with specific Scripture. Personally, I was carrying around an unreasonable level of fear for most of my life. This high level of fear was my default position, and when I encountered a life challenge or crisis, my level of fear would become unbearable. Omar listened attentively and asked me to remember the first time that I experienced being extremely afraid. I mentioned an instance when I was about six or seven years old when I came home from school with a note attached to my uniform that communicated to parents that head lice were circulating at the school. Upon reading this, my mother went into a visibly panicked state and appeared extremely distressed and scared. As a young child, I feared the worst and thought that my life was in danger. I did not know how to process what was happening other than to mirror the state of fear and panic that my mother was exhibiting. Omar related to me that I was being tormented by a foul and evil spirit, the spirit of fear, that may have gained access to me at that time. We prayed together against the foul spirit and communicated that such a spirit had no authority over me because I had been washed by the blood of my Savior Jesus Christ, and that the spirit had to flee from me. Initially, I felt relief from a constant tightness in my chest area, but over time I realized I no longer experienced pervasive fear and anxiety. I was engaging in new activities and walking with the Lord and happy regardless of my circumstances. Specifically, I was down to the last of all available money to me and had no job at the time. Soon after this breaking from fear, I received a job offer from a job that I love and still have. I could not have more gratitude for Omar, but more importantly for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for acting in my life and ransoming me from fear and desperation. • The Listening prayer Bible study with Omar and Joanna was such a blessing and refreshment for my life. This study revealed to me how many incorrect beliefs I had about prayer that caused me not to enjoy my prayer life. I realized I saw prayer as a burden and something I “had to do” in order to please God. Through the study, God reminded me of what prayer truly is and how He wants to speak to me personally. The listening prayer exercise in the last session impacted me tremendously. When I asked God specific questions and experienced His clear responses through the Holy Spirit, I realized I had been believing a lie that God didn’t want to speak with me until I reached a “certain level” of spirituality. • I met Omar about 3 years ago when I was invited by my son, Jordan, to his church retreat out in the wilderness of East Texas. I honestly was just so excited to spend a weekend with my son that I wasn’t focused on what God had and was preparing. Omar and I visited during a break, and I got to hear a little about TRUTH of LIFE Ministries and what our Lord had called him to do. Fast forward some months, and I was invited to meet with twenty men once a week and study “Listening Prayer”. It was there I heard a phrase from Omar that forever changed my heart and life: “God does it all”. It wasn’t Omar or me- It was about God! That sums up what Omar is about. He has been called by God, and Omar makes it all about God- absolutely everything! This past year I met with Omar One-on-One in 2-hour weekly prayer time. • I was grateful for the opportunity to meet and fellowship with strong Christian men and learn more about myself while digesting a powerful book. Our time together challenged me to conduct an honest review of my life which shed light on the sinfulness that held me in bondage for so many years. • God brought Omar into my life during what has been the hardest year I have ever experienced. 2021 has been an emotional and mental rollercoaster unlike anything I had ever imagined. During COVID lockdown, things went from bad to worse as the loss of connection hurt our family and work was increasingly demanding. Then, this year we lost three family members, faced multiple mental health challenges, suffered a miscarriage, family disputes and more. I have been a Christian a long time, even a licensed minister, but it wasn't until this year that I learned what it means to find my worth and meaning in Him alone. It is one thing to intellectually understand the resurrection of Christ, but another to be entirely reliant on the resurrection and to know the depth of my need for it. To live in brokenness rather than run from it. To live fully in the light with nothing hidden in darkness. Though at times I wish I would have experienced these things sooner, I am thankful for it now and for the part Omar played and continues to play in these changes. Omar was a literal Godsend when I did not have someone else to turn to. Every time we connected, I leave the meeting closer to God and with action steps to implement for my personal walk with God and for my family. • Damos gracias a Dios por la vida de Omar y Joanna quienes compartieron con nosotros el estudio de Como Escuchar a DIOS en Oración para parejas. Yo en especial veía muy difícil el aprender debido a que sufrí un infarto cerebral y mi cabeza está muy lenta y olvido muchas cosas, pero ellos con amor y paciencia nos enseñaron como buscar a DIOS en oración y quedar en silencio hasta escuchar su voz, porque DIOS está más interesado en hablarnos que nosotros en escucharlo. Al principio no entendía; pero tuve una fuerte discusión con mi esposo y me sentía muy mal e hipócrita como para ir a orar, pero ellos me enseñaron que ese es el mejor momento para buscar a DIOS en oración y escuchar su voz. Así lo hice, aunque todavía estaba muy enojada y frustrada. Empecé a pedirle perdón a DIOS y que quitara de mi ese sentimiento para poder estar delante de Él sin estorbo. Unas palabras vinieron a mi mente y decían: “clama a mi y yo te responderé, se que eres pecadora por eso mande a mi hijo JESUCRISTO a morir por tus pecados, levántate, no tengas miedo esfuérzate y se valiente”. Yo creí que yo era la que estaba diciendo esas palabras y no quería decepcionarme a mí misma; quería estar segura de que había sido DIOS hablando a mi vida y me levanté, tomé mi biblia para leerla y de pronto se abrió en Jeremías 33:3 y leí: “Clama a mí y te responderé, y te daré a conocer cosas grandes y ocultas que tú no sabes”. Y la verdad volví a ponerme de rodillas agradeciendo a DIOS por permitirme escuchar su voz y aprender que tengo la Mente de CRISTO (1 Corintios 2:16) para aprender lo que Él quiera enseñarme por medio de su Palabra para honra y gloria de su Santo Nombre. Le agradezco a Dios por personas como Omar y Joanna que se preocupan por enseñarnos. Que DIOS les bendiga. • We thank God for Omar and Joanna and for the Bible study “Listening Prayer for couples.” They taught us with patience and love how to seek God in prayer by waiting in quietness because “He is more interested in speaking to us than we are in listening to Him.” At first, I didn’t understand this. Then one day, I had a big argument with my husband and felt very bad and hypocritical coming to God in prayer, but they taught me that that is the most important time to seek God in prayer and hear His voice. So I did, even though I felt very angry and frustrated. I asked God for forgiveness and asked Him to take away my negative emotions so I could hear Him clearly. After I cried for a bit, peace came to my heart, and these words entered my mind: “Call out to me, and I will answer you. I know you are a sinner, and that is why I sent My Son Jesus to die for you! Get up, don’t be afraid. Be strong and courageous.” I thought I was saying these words to myself, and I didn’t want to deceive myself, so I grabbed my Bible to read. When I opened it, I saw Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to me, and I will answer and show you great and hidden things that you do not know.” I was so amazed that I got on my knees and thanked God for letting me hear His voice and for teaching me that I DO have the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16)! We thank Omar and Joanna for teaching us God’s Word, and we also thank Omar for teaching my husband to pray for his “next Kingdom assignment” when he lost his job. • We were very happy and inspired by learning to listen to God in prayer and learning the special role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Before taking the Bible study, we had not given much attention to the Holy Spirit in our day to day. We also learned to read the Bible much more and to treat it with the authority it should have in our lives, and in that process, we have found many answers in the Bible to our daily concerns. It has helped us so much as a couple to find agreement and unity in what the Bible tells us. • Doy gracias a Dios por su bondad tan preciosa en mi vida, ya que le pedí específicamente que me volviera a esa hermosa relación fresca y real que teníamos cuando conocí a Cristo. El año pasado presenté algunos problemas de salud que conmovieron fuertemente mi vida, mi matrimonio, y también mi Teología. Fue un tiempo muy difícil, en el que fui probada y pude darme cuenta de que cosas que decía creer realmente no las vivía, por ejemplo, la confianza, descansar en el cuidado de Dios a mi vida, no entendía como el amor de Dios se manifestaba a mí en ese tiempo de prueba. Mi relación con Dios se vio afectada, a pesar de toda la "correcta teología" que un alumno de Instituto Bíblico puede tener. Mi deseo por orar se fue apagando, y en lugar de acercarme más a Dios, estaba evitando ir a Él, porque en lo profundo de mi se habían plantado mentiras sobre Dios. Pero en lo profundo de mí, mi alma continuaba clamando al Señor, y él trajo este estudio a mi vida como una herramienta, para sanar mi corazón, para recordarme que él anhela relacionarse conmigo, y volví a acercarme a Dios como antes, volví a preguntarle específicamente y él me ha respondido específicamente también. Encontré libertad en recordar que Dios lo hace todo, que su Espíritu Santo es quien produce su fruto en mí, no mis esfuerzos, ni mis acciones, que necesito permanecer en Dios y así mis anhelos serán conforme a su voluntad, y que es Él quien desea limpiar mi vida para hacer su obra a través de mí. Ha sido para mí este estudio como un cambio de anteojos, aunque todo lo anterior ya lo sabía por años, lo veía desde una perspectiva que erróneamente aprendí, la postura de que todo lo tengo que ganar agrandando a Dios, siendo una "buena cristiana", cumpliendo cosas, pero ahora, he recuperado esa "frescura" en mi relación con Dios, desde mi manera de hablarle sinceramente, entendiendo que todo es en sus fuerzas y no en mi humanidad. Cada día recuerdo una frase que Omar nos enseñó: "Dios está más interesado en hablarnos, que nosotros en escucharlo". Quiero agradecerles nuevamente el tiempo invertido en nuestras vidas a lo largo de estos casi tres meses, ha sido un gusto y una bendición conocerlos. • I am so grateful to God because I had been asking Him to bring back that pure, real and beautiful relationship I had with Him when I first believed in Jesus. This past year I experienced health problems that shook my life, my marriage, and my theology. It was a very difficult trial, and I realized that many of the things I said I believed, I didn’t really live. I didn’t really trust God to care for me, and I couldn’t see how God would show me His love through the problems I was experiencing. My relationship with God suffered, even though I had all the “correct theology” of a Bible institute student. My desire to pray disappeared, and I found myself avoiding being with God because in my heart I had begun to believe lies about Him. But deep in my soul, I was still crying out to Him, and He sent this “Listening Prayer for Couples” Bible study to heal my heart and to remind me how much He wanted to be with me. I returned to that pure relationship with God I had had before at the beginning, when I would ask Him about my specific concerns and He would give me specific answers. I found enormous freedom in realizing that God does it all and that His Spirit produces fruit in me, not my actions or my strength. My only role is to abide in Him, and He transforms my desires to look like His and cleans me to do His will. It was a total change of perspective. Even though I had known many of these truths before, I had forgotten them as I learned a wrong way of relating to God: focusing on the rewards I could get by “being a good Christian” and “doing things” to please God. Now the freshness of that first dependence I had toward God has returned to my life as I understand that everything is by His strength and not by mine. Every day I wake up remembering this phrase Omar told us: “God is much more interested in speaking to you than you are in listening to Him.” I could write so much more of what God did in my life through this class! • My husband and I participated in TRUTH of LIFE’s Listening Prayer Bible Study in the spring. We continue to be blessed by this course and the truths that God has Omar and Joanna teach. If I could share only one Bible study with someone, it would be this one. I grew up in church and Christian school but had never been taught that the Lord still speaks personally to His children. Learning to hear my Father’s voice has completely transformed my relationship with Him. We talk regularly throughout the day, and our relationship has become an actual relationship! Peace has replaced anxiety since I am in constant communication with Him. Every morning I wake up and ask Him two questions: 1) What do you want to tell me? 2) What do you want me to do today? and I love to hear His answers! I long for others to experience a real relationship with the Father and have invited many friends to do the course. We also regularly talk with others about hearing the Lord and have been blessed to experience how they, too, can hear His voice now! We are so thankful God has given Omar and Joanna to us as mentors. • Our time in the Bible study “Listening Prayer for Couples” with Omar and Joanna was a big blessing for my wife and me. We have been believers for more than 30 years, and we were taught to pray and read the Bible, but never to listen to God in prayer. This teaching was something new and very practical for us. It awakened us to our need to seek the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in a personal and direct way. We keep remembering that God is more interested in communicating with us than we are in seeking Him. We also loved the practice of praying Scripture. The most important thing we learned was to be still in order to listen to God. It was also a blessing to participate with other marriages and learn from their stories of what God was speaking to them. Thank you, Omar and Joanna, for your time investment, your dedication, and your ministry! We thank God for your lives!

Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw; each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. • My first interaction with Omar was when my church was looking for a new pastor. A member of our congregation highly recommended him. When I spoke to him, I immediately learned that he had a calling over his life to bring God’s truth into a believer’s life like they have never experienced before. This is through allowing the Holy Spirit to fill you and produce His fruit in and through you. After going through the discipleship programs of Listening Prayer and The True Measure of a Man, the Lord began to prepare me for what He was getting ready to do in my life, which was to set me free in many aspects of my walk. Through a one-on-one Listening Prayer discipleship program with Omar which lasts for several weeks, the Lord has brought into the light so many hurts which have had serious consequences that have lasted years. But, with these revelations, He has also brought TRUE freedom like I have never experienced before. • I just wanted to let you know personally just how much your leadership and thoughtfulness meant to me as you guided us through the “The True Measure of a Man” study over these past ten weeks. Richard Simmons has done an excellent job of giving laser-sharp focus to issues that made me sit back and think…sometimes with regret for past mistakes in my own life, but also sometimes with pure unfettered hope about what God is doing as he faithfully draws us into the life that he desires for us. I found myself so encouraged, for he has described so many situations that I found myself in over my years that I thought were mine alone. How encouraging to know that we are not in this alone; that brothers in Christ are similarly challenged. Content of the study itself is one thing. But I wanted to let you know how much your enthusiasm for teaching, desire for others to hear Simmons’ encouraging message, insights about the book and our weekly conversations meant to me. Your heart for men to move past the temptations to settle for the values of the secular world and to pursue a higher calling to Christlikeness were a blessing to me, Omar. I encourage you to keep moving forward with this work—men need to hear this message of hope, this message of what the true measure of a man really is. • Between services one Sunday in late 2019, I overheard Omar explaining Scripture to someone. I was impressed with his knowledge of Scripture and tapped him on the shoulder. When he turned toward me, I could see the essence of God on his face! I determined I must get much better acquainted with this man. He invited me to his Bible study, and I started attending. The lessons were rich with God's Word, and Omar's humility and walk with God were such an encouragement to me! God has used his teaching as a catalyst to bring more spiritual growth in my life. I am much older than Omar and have been saved over 70 years, so I should be the one influencing him, but Omar has been a huge Godly influence on me! I am so very thankful for his ministry in my life. • Before I met Omar, I thought my walk with God was in a “good” place. I had no idea that I was going to be faced with a truth of life I was completely unaware of. Right before I met with Omar for the very first time, I was serving as a Director of a Bible study group at Second Baptist Church. I was reading and studying the Bible, going to service, serving in the class, and treating my wife (pregnant at the time) well. Coming from a household and an environment that almost never went to church, let alone served the church, I thought I was above average. My old friends and my family weren’t even remotely involved with church. I know none of us are good, only God is good, but I thought to myself “Good job Chrystian, you’re doing all you can do. God’s happy with you.” I was in a place in my career where I was struggling with fear and anxiety. Don’t get me wrong I love my job. I just wanted to make sure it was what God had called me to do. Also, I battled with depression and anxiety due to heredity. Though I did not have any reason to be depressed or anxious, the doctor said that it was a chemical imbalance in my brain. There are many side effects to dealing with this kind of inconvenience, but one I’d like to mention is restlessness. The side effect of restlessness caused me to sleep less, worry more, shake my legs all the time; it made me impatient, and I couldn’t sit still for very long. Doctors had prescribed me different treatments and/or pills. When doctors try to tell me this now, I sing and say Psalm 116. The Lord protects the unwary, when I was brought low, he saved me. No pills, pseudo-science, nor therapist can save me the way that God can! As you’re reading this, you might have noticed that there was something missing in my list of “good things” I was doing to be well with God. PRAYER! Before I met Omar, I would almost never pray. Due to my restlessness, (it’s almost shameful to admit now) I hated praying! Praying for me was more like checking off a box of completion. Sitting still for a prolonged period of time, saying things to God not knowing if he was listening, reading off prayers, or trying to memorize prayers really just made me more anxious. I would say that my favorite type of prayer was that of Nehemiah 2:4 right before he answered Artaxerxes. It probably went something like this, “Lord help me. Amen.” I am now proud to say that my prayer life has completely changed. Now I love praying!!! I have now taken the Listening Prayer teaching from Omar, twice! I wouldn’t be opposed to doing it a third time. I firmly believe every Christian man needs to learn the biblical truths that Omar explains in detail in the Listening Prayer series. Omar has been such a blessing to me and my family. He is an incredible teacher, a wise mentor and most mportantly, he is my brother. I care for him deeply as I know he cares for me and every single man he is discipling. Omar has made such an impact in my life. I love you brother thank you for everything. • I was contacted by Omar Calderon through a mutual friend, to invite me to a study group for men, which involved 10 one hour Zoom meetings, each one discussing a chapter in the book “The True Measure of a Man” by Richard Simmons. The book itself is very enlightening and thought-provoking, elaborating on the struggles, problems, and misconceptions that most men contend with throughout their lives. Each chapter ends, however, offering enlightenment and hope as to the solution to overcoming that problem/issue, which is to turn to God for the remedy. Throughout the past 10 weeks, I have been so impressed by the genuine kindness, openness, and spirituality of Omar. His description of his prayers always resonates with me and often bring tears to my eyes. Omar and I had a phone conversation recently about a spiritual issue I was wrestling with, and his advice was very helpful in resolving it. • The time spent together with Omar looking into Biblical truths, praying, listening, and allowing the Spirit of Truth to point out my thoughts and patterns of thinking where He wanted to work was deeply helpful. • My time on the videoconference was time well spent. The True Measure of a Man did its job. It gave us stimulating and thought-provoking situations, presented some of the typical male responses, then suggested what might be the Biblical view. A key to any successful study of this type, however, is to have men in the group who will share their experiences. When that happens, others find the courage to offer their own observations, and before long, relationships break out! It is a wonderful thing. You deserve a lot of credit for telling everyone up-front that when we speak, it should be in the first person. That was key to bring about the transparency that increased as each week went by. • I’ve been feeling more alive - more free - than ever before since completing six sessions of transformational prayer with Omar and Joanna. • Learning how to listen to the Lord has changed my life. For over 25+ years I have filled my prayer journals with MY words, but now my prayer journals are filled with HIS words…I grew up in the church and went to Christian private school, but I was never taught the power of the Holy Spirit in regard to listening to the voice of the Lord in my daily life. Knowing how to discern God's voice is absolutely key to living a successful and thriving life in service to Christ and it's the only thing I want to tell people about when another "what should we do for Bible study?" question comes up. Recently, I encouraged a group of women to go through Truth of Life Ministries' study on Listening Prayer. Everyone was excited! What was beautiful to see was how the women, through the study of God's Word and the practice of actually listening to God's voice, all had testimonies to share at the end of our time together…One of the main blessings I've seen with following the Lord's lead is how He makes things "too easy".
